Daily Dutch Apple pie.

A blog that wich will shape itself into one with all kinds of things from green to culture, art, to food and garden and home.. and yeah probably with a bit of work too.:) A Dutch blog yes, as I am a born ‘n bred in Amsterdam one and living in rural Zeeland. And as the Dutch have traveled the globe for centuries, the blog will have stories and info from both home and world. The main language will be English again, but the idea is on making it bilingual after a while. ..Not sure how long a while is though.. ;)

One night we camped near a mirrorsmooth mountain lake with some other foreign travelers we spend time with for a bit, and found it was in some ways easier to communicate with those who also have English as a 2nd, 3rd.. or 4th :) language as we were all constantly aware you or any might not use the right words or tone and everyone asked (even more!) questions about cultures and habits to get a better understanding of each other.

Talking about communication, I am working on a new blog as it is time. I will let you know soon.

New Zealand? Relaxed and amazingly kind kiwi’s (yep all of them :)), bright skies, cold and high mountains, clean rivers, and the coffee (almost) always perfect. We carried our backpacks nearly 400 km over mostly small tracks. Over so many mountains, saddles, beaches and hills, cliffs, over rocks and fallen trees. We forded glacier rivers, swam in them and drank them, (brain freeze!) and dived in orange peaty waters in the highlands. We slept in the trusty tent, in huts, car, houses and backpackers, under rocks and under the stars and often we felt as we were the only two people in the world.

It was really good to step out of our normal lives for 2 months, spending it together and now it is really good to look into the eyes of our dearies again and step forward.

Issue 9/10 of the art magazine Decreet was released last weekend. The whole of the magazine makes you want to just eat it !, good info, photo’s and artists. Grinning.. I even like the paper they use. (info@decreet.nl)

Bianca Runge asked if I was interested in showing work in museum Le Secet. Answer; Yes :) (yes please.)

And please people behave( a little ;)) while I am away, do stay safe, don’t make me come back.  And ow!  have you ever done roller skating? still have them tucked away in your wardrobe? get them out of there! If I get skates we can do it together! Ok.. maybe not the tapdancerollerscatestuff..  X

And (big step..) some weeks back already,  we handed over the world-wide project, FeltUnited,  Norwegian artist Cynthia Reynolds and I started over 4 years ago and which became far bigger then we could ever imagine to a new (perfect) team to lead, organize and answer your questions.

My work on this installation is almost done and I need your help in sharing, writing and reposting. As soon as it’s ready, the short film about the project will come online and I will probably ask the same question again. :)

I’ve listened to loads of music these past weeks while building the piece and this golden one stuck.

The work consists of  different shapes, each approx 2 mrt’s in diameter, each shape slightly different, each shape hollow and each shape with a different fleece on the inside.

It is a conceptual piece as the name Retreating motion/Wave already suggests. These last days I see the piece becoming stronger and the individual shapes becoming more solitary. It is a lonely piece.

Ok. opening.. or finisage weekend of the project, is coming Friday at 19.30 and if you cannot make it but do want to see the piece you’ll have to come the Saturday or Sunday, the only days we are open.

Gosh I worked hard.. and I danced. :) Snow Patrol.

Last week was a full week. This installation pushes me and I am absorbed by it and I thoroughly enjoy working and concentrating like this.  It is exhausting too and I am glad with this pottering around day.

Television came to film for a news item and as some of you know I am not always good with words and almost made them swear to take out all rough bits. grinning.. They are coming back to see the progress so did not scare them off I guess.

The Civil wars with My Fathers’s father is a good sound for today.

I am starting with the Retreating motion/Wave project in the Heavy steel plate factory on this FeltUnited day. A project I have been working on for over a year now, and we are all fired up (yup pun intended.. sorry;)) and roaring to go.

We are going to do a performance on the night of the 27th in Middelburg. Well herm.. by ‘we’ I actually mean ‘they’, as I am going to relax, have a well deserved glass of somethingoranother in a bar and enjoy all the shows, performances and fun.

If you want to see the performance gang into action you best come on down. but maybe best if I tell you what one of the perfmancers said, ‘We are about to explore the world and are up to no good. ‘ ;grinning..

Music? I am oak.

The actual physical work on the installation ‘Retreating motion / Wave’ started last year. After the concept was clear, drawn and talked through, I could go look for the first batch of the almost 80 kg’s of different kinds of wool and started felting.  And now we are looking at just a couple of week feltwork left  and than we will have a week or two to finish the last exhibition details.

The Heavy steel plate Factory is hired for about 3 weeks in which the piece will be made and I am looking forward to finally start that part of the process. Also because of the (lovely, amazing and gorgeous) people coming over to help work on this build.

Vernissage is friday the 26th.. well.. actually it will be a finissage as, to the horror of some..;)) we will start to dismantle the piece the week after. So, if you want to see this installation you might want to come to Vlissingen on the 26th of October or somewhere that weekend, or you could contact me to see if the doors are open during the build.

Listening to him was as listening to an artists talk about living his life, making art and dreaming dreams, about falling and getting up again.

In this so populated country real darkness in open air is hard to find.  So, the night of the night on October 27, is to bring awarness to that fact. (Why it is important for humans and animals that there is darkness you can find online (in dutch)..) The different nature and enviroment associations are working together with other organizations and cities to set up an amazing event.
